Really, I mean when is Google just gonna buy Microsoft already. (Originally posted on MySpace on March 1, 2007)

Picked this one up off of Commute by Bike. Get this. Now Google Maps has TRAFFIC. Apparantly they're setting it up for 30 major US cities. I can't vouch for everyone else...but at least my LA buddies can join me in going, "That's Cool!". I mean there is has always been SigAlert. But that interface, like most government websites, is so 1995. It's a little hard to digest in these slick Mozilla fueled days. Anyway...Here's a Google map of Sherman Oaks with the traffic turned on. The traffic has only been set up for the major freeways...with Red being horrible stop and go, Yellow being...you're gonna be a little late...and green being smooth sailing. Hopefully this will eventually expand to the major surface streets, cause we're in serious need of a good "alternate route" traffic guide in this city. Especially if, like me, you're coming out of Calabasas and there's only one real route into the Valley.
